Last Tuesday Writers' Club

This Tuesday sees a new start for our little gang of writers. Skeealleyderyn has been going for five years now, remaining fairly tight-knit and low-key. That's not because we're unsociable and hate other writers, or because we're overly protective of our work. For the most part, it's been a time issue - that is, none of us have any, in terms of the effort required to run a bigger group.

But circumstances change. Time is still an issue, but we're not going to let it dictate to us any longer. In a bid to attract new members, generate a better platform for Isle of Man writers, and - whisper it softly - potentially produce something tangible from the group as a whole, we've found a new home and a new date.

The Last Tuesday Writers' Club will meet - wait for it - on the last Tuesday of each month. The venue will be that fine coffee shop, Jabberwocky, from 7pm til 9pm. The change from the our previous date/venue means some members of the Isle of Man Literary Society, which used to meet on the same night as us, can now join us. And we're keen to see as many new faces as possible for this first meeting.

So, if you're a writer, feel free to come along and meet us. If you don't write, but know someone who does, please pass on our details. If you'd like to get in touch before a meeting to check detials or get further info, drop us a line at skeealleyderyn(at)gmail.com, or leave a comment on the blog.

Happy scribbling, folks.

Cheers

  1. Hi folks

I've just created a new website that the group might be interested in. It's address is http://www.passion4prose.eu and it has a two fold function.

The first function is to promote my own work and to encourage me to get my fingers back on the keyboard.

The second function is, with the help of a friend over in Australia, to foster an appreciation for rich flowing English and build on online writers community with special pages for prose, poetry, article, and playwrights groups. All such pages have their own user search databases and event calendar, and the pages are littered with blog, comment, and facebook links and opportunities.

Additionally there is a page highlighting charitable causes, and an isle of man page, and hopefully soon a writers help and development page will soon appear.

Finally the best news of all. Membership is absolutely free, and with a flexible membership package system to reflect all levels of interest there is plenty of opportunity to have some fun.

There is also an invitation to name a camel by the way. I would dearly like him to become the site mascot, but he needs a name, and words to break his silence. Any ideas, any comemts, any blogs; see you at the next meeting in January.

    Regards Chris Wilson
